Blablacar Bus : the company and network
Let’s start by presenting the company, its history and its network.
The company
Managed by Comuto SA, Blablacar Bus was born from the merger of multiple different bus networks.
Formerly called Blablabus, the company actually took over the Ouibus network (formerly called IDBus), which was managed by SNCF until 2019, when it was sold to Comuto.
In 2021, Blablabus undergoes its last name change and officially becomes BlaBlaCar Bus.
The Blablacar bus network

In its early days, when BlaBlaCar Bus was still called IDBus, the network was relatively limited, mainly providing bus services in France and a few bordering destinations, such as Amsterdam , London or Brussels .
It was with the Macron law of 2015 that the network was renamed Ouibus and saw the addition of several additional buslines within France. Over the years, and in particular thanks to partnerships with local players in Italy and Spain, the number of European destinations continued to grow steadily over the years until it was acquired by BlaBlaCar, then leader in the car-sharing space.
Today, in 2022, the BlaBlaCar Bus bus network has become one of the leading bus companies in Europe, only rivaled by Flixbus. BlaBlaCar Bus now offers more than 400 destinations in France and Europe.
What to expect from a BlaBlaCar Bus?
BlaBlaCar Bus buses are particularly well equipped and you won’t miss anything. Among the advantages you can enjoy on board, we can mention in particular:
- Air conditioning
- Free Wi-Fi
- Electrical outlets
- An assigned reading lamp
- Toilets
- A space for the legs
- Footrests and reclining seats
- Screens to follow the progress of the trip
Please note that you can take with you, free of charge, two pieces of hand luggage and two pieces of luggage in the hold (maximum of 20 kg and 200 cm per piece of luggage). Strollers are also free in the hold, and do not count towards the number of pieces of luggage allowed.
The price of BlaBlaCar Bus

Similarly to FlixBus , it is impossible to give you an accurate estimate of the price of BlaBlaCar Bus, as it naturally depends on a large number of factors, including:
- The distance travelled.
- Supply and demand on your dates.
- The time of your reservation.
- If you have chosen additional options (choice of placement on the bus, for example, for 2 or 4 €).
However, we can give you a price range. The cheapest tickets usually start from €5, and prices very rarely exceed €70 per trip.
Please note that children traveling on BlaBlaCar Bus can also benefit from reductions depending on their age:
- -50% for children under 2 years old.
- -25% for children under 12 years old.
Where can I buy a BlaBlaCar Bus ticket?
You have several options to buy a BlaBlaCar Bus transport ticket, but be aware that, as a general rule, payments are dematerialized (as is also the case for Lio buses ), and you will not be able to buy a ticket on board .
The easiest way to buy your ticket is to go online or to do so on the BlaBlaBus application. You will also find a large number of comparison and booking platforms in partnership with BlaBlaCar Bus.
If you don’t want to go online, another option is to go to one of the company’s partner outlets, all of which are listed on the site and usually located at bus stations .
Finally, be aware that in some establishments (such as tobacconists), you can buy prepaid BlaBlaCar Bus cards. Available for 15, 25 or 35 €, they contain a code which will then allow you to make a purchase on the site or the application.
Cancellation and refund conditions
If, for one reason or another, you have to cancel your trip, you have the option of canceling your trip as well, up to 30 minutes before departure. Note, however, that refunds are only made in the form of a voucher, valid for one year.
- If you cancel more than 8 days before departure, you will receive the full amount as a voucher.
- If you cancel up to 24 hours before departure, you will receive 75% of the amount refunded in the form of a voucher.
- If you cancel less than 24 hours before departure, but at least 30 minutes before the departure of your bus, you will receive 60% of the amount, refunded in the form of a voucher.
If you have benefited from a reduction offer, please note that special offers cannot be modified or exchanged.
Finally, if you booked on a site other than BlaBlaBus, remember to check that the cancellation conditions are the same. Indeed, the comparison platforms are managed by private companies which have the freedom to set up their own general conditions of sale.
